The WoodGas Campstove vs. Other Stoves

The WoodGas campstove is different from most camping and backpacking stoves in that it doesn't require commercial fuel, but requires batteries and possibly fire starter.

When comparing weight to other products, results depend a great deal on trip length and cooking intensity.

The WoodGas campstove has a clear advantage when cooking for a group or when taking long hikes.

Weight Comparison

Assumptions:

* Three meals per day with the stove on high power (10,000 btu/hr) for 10 minutes each meal.

* Propane/Butane Stove weighs 9oz (excluding fuel)

* White Gas stove weighs 11 oz (excluding fuel)

* Propane Stove weighs 9oz (excluding fuel)

Of course, the WoodGas campstove does not use commercial fuel, so cooking for longer periods, or just sitting by the smoke free fire, does not increase weight.

If a larger group needs to eat - so the cooking times are extended, the results are more dramatic.

* The weight of the WoodGas campstove is due to the stove, fire starter and batteries, so increases only slightly with cooking times.
